Tesla considers Fort Bend County for solar manufacturing project
Tesla is eyeing Fort Bend County as a potential home for a new manufacturing facility.
The proposed $10.1 billion capital project, also referred to as Project Crystal Sun, could bring a solar cell manufacturing facility to a portion of a 3,057-acre site at FM 1994 and FM 762 within Lamar Consolidated ISD’s boundaries.

New Paris Baguette bakery coming to Missouri City
Paris Baguette is continuing its expansion in the Greater Houston area with a new location in Missouri City’s Colony Lakes Shopping Center, officials announced in an Instagram post.
The bakery offers a variety of cakes including a cappuccino cake and a blueberry chiffon cake, and pastries such as flavored croissants, danishes and tarts, per its website. It also has savory options including sandwiches, quiches and croquettes.

House of Pies coming soon to Webster
House of Pies is opening a new location in Webster, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration.
Construction is expected to wrap up in October, according to the filing.
An official opening date has not yet been announced.

New steak, seafood restaurant opens in Friendswood
Parkwood American Grille is now serving modern American fare in Friendswood, according to a news release from the restaurant.
The restaurant comes from the team behind Pier 6 Seafood & Oyster House, including owner Raz Halili and executive chef Joe Cervantez, who previously served as head chef for Killen’s Steakhouse in Pearland.

Houston ISD deputy superintendent leaves district
Houston ISD’s deputy superintendent has resigned to move out of Texas, according to a Sept. 17 news release from the district.
HISD Deputy Superintendent Kristen Hole will move to join her family out of state, according to the news release. Hole’s family had already relocated, but she split time between her new home and Houston to oversee the implementation of new programs that launched at HISD with the start of the 2026-27 school year in August.

Shipley Donuts celebrates 90th birthday with limited-time ‘favorites box,’ value deals
America’s longest-standing donut chain just got a little older, and this year, officials are throwing a party.
Shipley Donuts is celebrating its 90th anniversary–nearly a century after its opening in 1936–with a 10-week-long promotion running until Oct. 18, according to a news release.
The special began Aug. 10 and is set to rotate through various value deals, in addition to debuting limited-time birthday-themed donuts.
