The cause: Originally founded in 1999, the nonprofit aims to "inspire innovation and enhance academic opportunities to create the foundation for lifelong learning," according to its website. The foundation raises funds to award Innovative Education grants to teachers—which are then used to fund creative projects and classroom initiatives—and to award scholarships to students and teachers who are continuing their education.
The impact: Over the past 25 years, the organization has funded 2,237 grants and 386 scholarships for a total of $17.3 million given to Humble ISD students and teachers, according to the foundation's website.
Get involved: To support the Innovative Education grant program, the foundation hosts four major events each year: Purse Bingo in August, a golf tournament in November, the Humble BBQ Cook-off and Rodeo in February and the Boots & Bling Gala in April.
