The Lake Houston-area community has grown by more than 44,000 residents—or about 15.2%—from 2016-21, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey five-year estimates released Dec. 8.

In 2021, the Lake Houston area's seven ZIP codes—77044, 77338, 77339, 77345, 77346, 77365 and 77396—had a population of 336,568, while the population was 292,120 in 2016.
During this timeframe, the median household income also increased from $76,729 to $92,058. In 2021, the number of residents with an education level of high school diploma or higher was 190,213, which represented about 56.5% of the population.

As of 2021, the median age of Lake Houston residents was 33.2 with the age zero-19 group making up the largest segment of the population at about 31%.

Concerning race and ethnicity, the white population remains the largest in the Lake Houston area at 39.1%, followed by Hispanic or Latino with 35.2%, and Black with roughly 20%.
