One of the after effects of Tropical Storm Harvey was Katy ISD and other school districts in the Greater Houston area lost nearly two weeks of instructional days. For students adjusting to a new classroom or living situation, or those who just need some extra help, these 13 Katy-area organizations offer tutoring, test prep or language instruction.

English as a Second Language


Christ Church
ESL classes are held Thursday evenings from 7-8:45 p.m. from September to May. Walk-ins and all levels of English proficiency are welcome. $20 (optional textbook).

Crossing Borders Language Center
The center offers courses with small class sizes for those wanting to learn English, Spanish, French, Mandarin or German. Flexible scheduling is available.
