The National Association of Music Merchants Foundation named KISD among the best communities for music education for the 13th year. The foundation is a nonprofit organization that recognizes schools and school districts for demonstrating outstanding effort in providing students access to music education.

Michael Ouellette, Katy ISD executive director of fine arts, said he is honored by the recognition.

“We are committed to ensuring all of our students have access to music education as part of the school curriculum by offering a wide variety of music programs,” Ouellette said.

KISD music programs include marching, concert and jazz band, orchestra and choir as well solo and ensemble opportunities.
