The Katy ISD Board of Trustees will meet Monday for a regular work study meeting, and Cane Island will host a Katy City Council candidate forum Thursday for the upcoming May 5 election. Find out everything Katy residents should know this week, April 16-20 here:

1) Katy ISD Board of Trustees to meet Monday

The Katy ISD Board of Trustees will meet Monday for a regularly scheduled work study meeting at 6:30 p.m. Trustees will meet to discuss agenda items for the upcoming April 23 meeting that include purchasing a social media threat alerting service and approving a contract for district wide lighting upgrades. A 30-minute open forum will also be held at the end of the meeting, which is routine for work study meetings.

KISD teacher Debbie Ellis announced plans to meet before the work study meeting to organize a "support circle" in a show solidarity with Superintendent Lance Hindt after past allegations accusing him of bullying continue to plague the district. The group plans to meet at 4:30 at the district's education support complex.

"Participants will stand shoulder to shoulder to form a circle around Dr. Hindt to show their support of his leadership," a press release from Ellis stated. "Such circles of positivity help uplift and support individuals or groups who face situations grounded in negativity."
