Crockett Street has been downgraded from a major to minor collector street under the city’s Major Thoroughfare and Freeway Plan, or MTFP, from Sawyer Street to I-45. The change also applies to Hogan Street from I-45 to North Main Street. The change will allow Houston Public Works to evaluate ways to address concerns with speeding and on-street parking, according to the recommendation filed by the Houston Planning Commission. The MTFP is the city’s mechanism for classifying and regulating rights of way and development along its roadways. The planning commission is charged with reviewing the plan annually and recommending changes. City Council approved the change Oct. 23.
