A Greater Heights nonprofit dedicated to supporting children involved with the state's Child Protective Services is seeking donations as it prepares for an annual toy drive that seeks to provide Christmas gifts to more than 19,000 children.

The annual toy drive for BEAR—which stands for Be a Resource—is called BEARing Gifts and involves gathering brand-new holiday gifts for at-risk and CPS-involved children.

Volunteers can help by purchasing items on the nonprofit's Amazon wishlist, making monetary donations, sponsoring children, hosting toy drives and volunteering at the BEAR warehouse at 3572 E. TC Jester Blvd., Houston. However, the most pressing needs as of Dec. 16 were toy donations and monetary gifts, nonprofit officials said.

On Dec. 17, volunteers will gather at the nonprofit headquarters to prepare presents for delivery.
