Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital is set to break ground in mid-November on a 9,600-square-foot freestanding emergency care in Cypress.

Located on the northwest corner of Hwy. 290 and Fairfield Creek Drive, the Houston Methodist Cypress Emergency Care Center is expected to open early next fall, CEO Beryl Ramsey said.

"Houston Methodist Willowbrook serves a broad range of the population from Hwy. 290 to I-45," she said. "We know there is a significant population in that area, and having an emergency center in the community will give people easier access to the hospital."

The new facility will feature 10 treatment rooms for patients, on-site laboratory services, general radiology services, computerized tomography imaging and a separate ambulance entrance. The emergency care center will also be open 24/7 every day of the year and staffed with board-certified physicians.

"We'll be able to treat everyone who comes in, from adults to children of any age," Ramsey said.

Additionally, patients with more serious conditions can be transferred to the main hospital campus near Hwy. 249 and FM 1960 if necessary.

"That coordination of care will be seamless," Ramsey said.
