Clarus Hotels and JTS Development, Ltd. officials are in the process of designing plans for a new hotel expected to open in March 2016 at the corner of Hwy. 249 and Medical Complex Drive in Tomball.

"I think [the hotel is] going to provide a great alternative to people in town for projects and relocations as well as guests looking for more amenities and space than the existing hotels," said Vishal Mody, vice president of Clarus Hotels.

Tomball City Council adopted an ordinance at the Nov. 3 meeting granting a conditional use permit to JTS Development, Ltd. to operate a hotel within the city limits on 2.2 acres. The new Residence Inn by Marriott will feature 103 rooms and a number of amenities, including full kitchen sets, grills, fire pits, an outdoor pool and putting green, Mody said.

There will be two hotel room options—a one bedroom with a king-size bed or a studio-style space with a king-size bed or two queen-size beds. In addition, guests will be able to enjoy breakfast buffets, evening social hours and high-speed Internet, Mody said.

Construction on the hotel is expected to begin in March 2015, Mody said. Developers selected Tomball as the site for the new Residence Inn by Marriott due to the city's significant growth and proximity to the Tomball Regional Medical Center and Baker Hughes.
