About 80 percent of the revenue at Lone Pint Brewery in Magnolia stems from customer favorite Yellow Rose IPA, or India pale ale.

“That Mosaic hop is magical—it really is,” co-owner Heather Niederhofer said. “It’s the unicorn of the hop. People who don’t like IPAs can drink Yellow Rose. People who don’t like beer can drink Yellow Rose.”

The beer’s name is derived from its yellow color and is a tribute to Emily West, or the “Yellow Rose,” who funneled information to the Texas army in the 1830s, co-owner Blake Niederhofer said.

“I think a lot of breweries try to make the most complicated beer they can,” he said. “[Yellow Rose] is one grain. It’s all German pilsner malt, all Mosaic for the hops, water and yeast.”
