The Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees approved the name of the district’s eleventh high school as Cypress Park during an Aug. 10 meeting. Historically district administrators have recommended high school names based on geographic landmarks in the district. Cypress Park is named after the nearby Grand Parkway, which runs through the western portion of the district. “We look forward to serving our rapidly growing community with the opening of this new state-of-the-art high school,” Superintendent Mark Henry said. The new campus is set to open for the 2016-17 school year on a multischool site near FM 529 and Westgreen Boulevard. The school will serve about 3,000 students with a three-story academic wing, community building for fine arts and indoor athletics, dining facility and central utility plant building. The 592,000-square-foot campus was designed by PBK Architects. The site will also house Middle School 19 and Elementary School 57, projected to open in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
