Nordic yarn store Kani Kettu now open in northwest Houston

Kani Kettu, a Nordic yarn store, opened April 12 in the Shops at Cypresswood shopping center located at 10211 Cypresswood Drive, Ste. 600, Houston.

Owner Rebecca Castaneda lamented the lack of yarn stores near her Cypress home, so she and her husband, Edgar, decided to start their own.

“We wanted to offer something new to the knitting and crochet community, so we decided to focus on Scandinavian and other Nordic styles for their elegant and simple designs to enable customers to make everyday apparel,” Edgar Castaneda said.

In addition to offering knitting and crochet lessons, Kani Kettu offers a wide selection of natural fiber yarns from Isager from Denmark, Lopi from Iceland and CaMaRose from Denmark as well as knitting supplies from the Norwegian crafts company Lykke.

The store will also have a digital storefront online in late April, which will allow customers to shop online for their specialty selection of yarns, patterns, and other knitting and crochet accessories.
