Two projects to widen FM 1097 in the Willis area are continuing to take shape, according to the latest Oct. 1 update from the Texas Department of Transportation.

1. A widening project to expand FM 1097 from two to four lanes with a continuous center turn lane is 76% complete between Anderson Road and Lake Conroe Hills Drive, according to TxDOT. The project is anticipated to wrap up in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Cost: $14.69 million

Timeline: February 2021-fourth quarter 2023

2. A project to widen FM 1097 from two to four lanes with a continuous center turn lane is 9% complete between Lake Conroe Hills Drive and Blueberry Hills Road, according to TxDOT. The project is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2024, a timeline which was not previously provided. Since an Aug. 1 update from TxDOT, the project's estimated cost has decreased from $16.09 million to $14.72 million, TxDOT reports show.
