Several road projects are under construction in the Conroe and Montgomery area.


Ongoing projects










  1. The Texas Department of Transportation is undertaking a project to widen Hwy. 75 in Conroe from two to four lanes between Gladstell Street and the I-45 underpass. The project has reached 84 percent of completion.

2. An expansion of FM 3083 in Conroe addresses traffic congestion along the roadway by widening the road from two to four lanes from just east of Hwy. 75 to west of FM 1484, building a bridge over the Union Pacific Corp. railroad tracks and adding a left-turn lane. The project is anticipated to be completed in the third quarter of 2018.

3. The city of Conroe will send a project out for bid in September to expand Longmire Road from two to four lanes between League Line Road and FM 3083. The project will be done in two phases, and utility relocations have already begun.

4. The city of Conroe will soon begin construction on a project to extend Grace Crossing Road from the north side of FM 1488 to Walter Woodson Drive, which is the roadway leading to Conroe Fire Department Station No. 4. Conroe City Council approved the construction bid for the project in early May.

5. FM 1097 expansion
TxDOT’s project to expand FM 1097 from two to four lanes between I-45 and Hwy. 75, which included a continuous left-turn lane and additional drainage work, was completed in mid-February.

6. Wilson Road expansion
A city of Conroe project to expand Wilson Road from two to four lanes between I-45 and Frazier Street includes adding sidewalks, curb and gutter improvements, streetlights and traffic signals at Frazier Street. The project is 17 percent complete.

7. Hwy. 105 improvements
A TxDOT project to add a raised median, sidewalks and public transit stops on
Hwy. 105 between I-45 and Hwy. 75 in Conroe has reached 71 percent completion.

8. Buffalo Springs Drive bridge repair
Construction to repair flood damage on the Buffalo Springs Drive bridge in Montgomery includes adding four inlet drains and dirt and concrete work to support the drainage entryways. The road will open in late June, and bridge decking will be added in late July.

9. FM 149 repairs south of Montgomery
A project to repair the base of a segment of roadway between the south Montgomery city limits and Keenan Cut Off Road is complete but awaiting final approval. The project’s cost increased to fix damage caused by Hurricane Harvey and add a right-turn lane at Montgomery Elementary School.

10. FM 149 repairs north of Montgomery
TxDOT is working on a project to resurface and repair 10 miles of FM 149 between FM 1791 and FM 1097, north of Montgomery, as well as add a 5-foot-wide shoulder throughout the length of roadway. The project is 93 percent complete.
