There are several events happening in Conroe this weekend. Residents can enjoy the weekend by catching a play, judging dozens of pots of homemade chili, eating a romantic dinner, watching the Super Bowl or attending a Mardi Gras party. 'West Side Story'

The Crighton Theatre will present "West Side Story" in February. Inspired by the story of "Romeo and Juliet," "West Side Story" takes Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers and places them in the vibrant battleground of New York City’s West Side in the 1950s. The show will be presented every weekend in February starting Feb. 9.Hops for Hope

The Community Assistance Center will host its annual Hops for Hope event at Southern Star Brewing Co. The family-friendly event will include a silent auction, games and beer for sale. All proceeds will help support the various programs and services the center provides across Montgomery County. The Community Assistance Center is a nonprofit organization in Conroe that functions as a comprehensive resource center for the county. Tickets include entry to the event and concert, a memorabilia pint glass, and two drink tickets.Chili cookoff

The B.E. Winery will host its second annual chili cookoff. Guests can purchase a wristband to sample the chili and participate in judging. For those wanting to participate in the event, a $50 registration is required before the day of the event. The first place cash prize will be $250 per team plus a trophy; the second place cash prize will be $100 per team plus a trophy; and the third place/honorable mention prize will be a $25 gift card to use at either of B.E. Winery's locations.

Romantic dining by the lake


Margaritaville Lake Conroe will celebrate Valentine's Day with an intimate three-course gourmet dining experience at the License to Chill Bar and Cafe. Reservations are recommended. A second event will be held on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.Watoto Children's Choir

The Watoto Children's Choir from Uganda, East Africa will perform in Conroe. The Watoto Children's Choir is a group of African children who tour internationally to raise money and awareness for the Watoto orphanages in Kampala.Meet the builder

America's Home Place will host a meet-the-builder event that will allow the community the chance to speak with the custom homebuilders and the on-site sales team to learn more about the building process.CAA Mardi Gras Party

The Chennault Aviation Academy will throw a Mardi Gras party. The event will include Cajun and Zydeco music, bead throwing, gumbo, and king cake. Guests can sign up to bring drinks, food and dessert.Super Bowl Watch Party


VFW Post 4709 will host a Super Bowl Watch party. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite game day potluck snacks and wear their favorite jersey.
