Willis ISD officials discussed three possible calendar options before limiting the option to two before asking for community feedback.
The biggest difference in the calendars were in regard to fall break. Calendar A offered a full week off for students and only three days in Calendar B. The community ultimately voted 68.5% in favor of Calendar A.
Important dates in the 2024-25 academic calendar include:
- Aug. 14: First day of school
- Sept 2: Holiday
- Oct. 14-18: Student fall break
- Oct 16-18: Staff fall break
- Nov 25-29: Thanksgiving break
- Dec. 23-Jan. 3, 2025: Winter break
- Jan. 8, 2025: Second semester starts
- Jan 20, 2025: Holiday
- Feb. 17, 2025: Staff development
- March 10-14, 2025: Spring break
- April 18, 2025: Holiday
- April 21, 2025: Staff development
- May 23, 2025: Last day of school
Also of note
The board of trustees approved an amendment during a Jan. 22 meeting to change the spring break days in 2025 from March 17-21 to March 10-14 to coincide with Conroe ISD's spring break change.
