Here are four things residents in the Conroe and Montgomery area need to know to start the week: The Texas Legislature begins its special session Tuesday In June, Gov. Greg Abbott called for a special session to address legislation that failed to pass during the regular 85th Legislative session. Twenty items are scheduled to be addressed during the session, including property tax reform, pro-life insurance reform and regulating bathroom usage based on gender. Conroe ISD meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Conroe ISD Board of Trustees meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. for its July meeting. Trustees are set to take another look at 2017-2018 academic calendar, name Grand Oaks High School’s first principal, review the naming process for Flex 18, which is a temporary name for the new intermediate campus coming August 2018. The nonprofit provides volunteer advocacy for abused children in Montgomery County. Davis St., Conroe. www.casaspeaks4kids.com Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District meets Wednesday at 10 a.m. The LSGCD meets Wednesday morning to discuss a resolution that would increase the groundwater use fee from 7.5 cents to 11 cents per 1,000 gallons of water used in Montgomery County, effective Jan. 1. The cities of Conroe, Montgomery and Shenandoah are among the list of entities that have shown opposition to the fee increase.
