Conroe and Montgomery a full of activity this week between Montgomery City Council, Montgomery County Commissioner's Court and Valentine's Day. Here are five things Conroe and Montgomery residents should know this week, Feb. 13-17.

1.    Montgomery City Council meets Feb. 14 at 6 p.m.
Council will hold a public hearing on a proposed annexation by the City of Montgomery for a 14.5-acre tract of land north of Hwy. 105, upon which, two commercial buildings will be constructed. Also on the agenda, city council will consider a resolution authorizing the submission of a Texas Community Development Block Grant program application to the Texas Department of Agriculture to help the city repair flooding damage from last year. The city will also consider authorizing a Utility and Economic Feasibility Study for the southwest corner of FM 1854 and Hwy. 105 regarding The Shoppes at Montgomery.

2.    Montgomery County Commissioner’s Court meets Feb. 14 at 9:30 a.m.
County Tax Assessor/Collector Tammy McRae will give a presentation on general homestead exemptions, which is an initiative that could provide property tax relief to countywide homeowners. Currently, the county does not offer a homestead exemption. Additionally, commissioners will consider a resolution that supports local state legislators in their effort to reform property tax.

3.    Montgomery County Commissioner’s Court will host a special meeting Feb. 14 at 10:30 a.m.
During the special meeting, commissioners will discuss potential candidates to appoint to the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District Board of Directors.

4.    Grand Central Park opens community thoroughfares to Loop 336.
As of Feb. 13, Grand Central Park is now accessible from Loop 336 with the opening of signalized intersections at Town Park Drive and Crescent Campus Boulevard. A third roadway, Urban Avenue, will open later this spring prior to the opening of the master-planned community.
