Update: 1:16 p.m. Nov. 5, 2018

At the close of early voting Friday, 82,586 Galveston County residents had showed up to vote in person. Another 7,187 voted by mail for a total early voter turnout of 89,773, said Susan Williams, Galveston County assistant elections coordinator.

Williams said the total was just behind the November 2016 presidential election but "quite a bit ahead" of the November 2014 midterm elections.

"There seems to be a lot of interest in this election,” she said.

A total of 94,088 Galveston County residents voted in person for the November 2016 election, and 35,591 voted in person for the November 2014 election, according to the Texas Secretary of State.

On Friday, the last day of early voting, 9,392 voted in person, and 255 voted by mail.



Update: 10:20 a.m. Nov. 2, 2018

As of Thursday, the 11th day of early voting, a total of 73,709 Galveston County residents have voted.

Yesterday, 5326 voted in person, and 71 voted by mail. On the 11th day of early voting for the November 2016 election, 5,963 voted in person.

Update: 12:36 p.m. Nov. 1, 2018

With only two days of early voting to go, 68,312 Galveston County residents have already voted.

A total of 4,318 residents voted Oct. 31, the 10th day of early voting. A total of 4,132 were cast in person, and 186 were cast by mail.

On the 10th day of early voting during the November 2016 election, 6,268 Galveston County residents voted in person.

Update: 3:49 p.m. Oct. 31, 2018

A total of 5,708 Galveston County residents voted Tuesday, Oct. 30, the ninth day of early voting.

A total of 5,437 voted in person, and 271 voted by mail.

On the ninth day of early voting during the November 2016 election, 6,388 voted in person.

Update: 12:33 p.m. Oct. 30, 2018

A total of 6,186 Galveston County residents voted Monday. A total of 6,005 voted in person, and 181 voted by mail.

So far, 58,286 Galveston County residents have voted. By this time of early voting for the November 2016 election, 65,848 residents had voted.

Update: 11:09 a.m. Oct. 29, 2018

A total of 17,471 Galveston County residents voted Friday through Sunday during early voting.

On Friday, 8,433 voted in person, and 407 voted by mail. On Saturday, 6,022 voted in person, and 279 voted by mail. On Sunday, 2,330 voted in person, and no mail ballots came in because it was Sunday.

The daily totals of early in-person voters continue to trail just behind the November 2016 turnout.

Update: 9:13 a.m. Oct. 26, 2018

A total of 7,286 Galveston County residents voted Oct. 25, the fourth day of early voting.

Of that total, 6,992 voted in person, and 294 voted by mail. As of Oct. 26, it was the lowest turnout for early voting in the county.

So far, 40,934 Galveston County residents have voted early this election.

Update: 9:17 a.m. Oct. 25, 2018

A total of 8,448 Galveston County residents voted Oct. 24, the third day of early voting.

Of those, 8,164 voted in person, and 284 voted by mail. So far, 33,648 early votes have been cast in the county.

Update: 9:21 a.m. Oct. 24, 2018

A total of 9,364 Galveston County residents voted in person Oct. 23, the second day of early voting.

Another 506 voted by mail Oct. 23 for a total of 9,870.

On the second day of early voting during the November 2014 election, 2,921 Galveston County residents voted in person. A total of 10,082 Galveston County residents voted in person on the second day of early voting for the November 2016 election.

The total of in-person Galveston County early voters so far is 20,340. For the November 2016 election, the total was 21,104.

After the first day of early voting, 15,836 Galveston County residents had cast ballots.

A total of 10,976 residents cast ballots in person, and another 4,860 voted by mail.

The total is "significantly more" than seen in past elections, a Galveston County Clerk's Office representative said.

In November 2014, 5,885 residents voted the first day of early voting. For the November 2016 presidential election the number of first-day early voters was 15,855, according to the Texas Secretary of State.

There are 213,875 registered voters in Galveston County. In 2016 there were 208,228, and in 2014 there were 191,961, according to the Secretary of State.
