As part of the Hwy. 146 widening project through Seabrook and Kemah, one lane of the bridge will be closed for 36 hours from just after midnight Aug. 4 through noon Aug. 5, according to a city of Seabrook press release. The outside northbound lane will be closed, but the inside northbound lane will remain open. Still, officials expect traffic delays, especially during Monday morning commutes, according to the release. From midnight to about noon Aug. 4, crews will pour a large new section of the bridge deck necessary to widen the bridge. The lane will remain closed another 24 hours to minimize vibrations that could cause the newly poured deck to crack, according to the release. The original closure was expected to begin July 31 but was pushed back to Aug. 4, the release reads. Additionally, one lane of 10th Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 2-3, and Third Street will be entirely closed 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 5-6 to accommodate Hwy. 146 work. The northern boating channel beneath the Hwy. 146 bridge closed July 29, and the closure is expected to last a month.
