ONGOING PROJECTS


1) I-45 widening


Crews have been constructing the substructure necessary for the southbound overpass at FM 646. The work along I-45 between NASA Bypass and FM 517 is part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s goal to widen the interstate from six to eight lanes.
Timeline: November 2016-2021
Cost: $222 million
Funding sources: TxDOT ($142 million), federal government ($80 million)





2) Ervin connector construction


This new four-lane arterial roadway will connect Calder Road to the new Hobbs Road extension to the south. The street will provide better accessibility for Sedona subdivision residents and future development.
Timeline: October 2019-August 2020
Cost: $5.07 million
Funding source: city of League City





3) Hwy. 146 widening


TxDOT is widening Hwy. 146 from four to six lanes between Red Bluff Road and Hwy. 96. The project is in Phase 1, which includes widening the existing northbound lanes. Traffic on the Hwy. 146 bridge has been shifted west with two lanes in each direction.
Timeline: February 2019-early 2024
Cost: $201 million
Funding sources: federal government ($160.8 million), TxDOT ($40.2 million)





UPCOMING PROJECTS

4) FM 270 widening


This project will widen a 2.7-mile stretch of FM 270 from south of FM 518 through the Hwy. 96 intersection to the south from a two-lane road to a four-lane, divided, curb-and-gutter street. Once design is complete staff will partner with the Houston-Galveston Area Council and TxDOT for funding.
Timeline: construction starts 2021 at the earliest
Cost: $22.8 million
Funding sources: Houston-Galveston Area Council ($18.24 million), city of League City ($4.56 million)





5) Turner Street and Butler Road improvements


Turner Street will be rebuilt from the new roundabout on Calder Road to where it intersects with Butler Road to the west. Butler will be reconstructed from that intersection north to where it intersects with League City Parkway. The roads will be widened to three lanes to match the configuration of Calder. Another roundabout will be installed where Turner and Butler intersect to improve traffic flow. The city received bids for the project in September.

Cost: $4.41 million
