The American Heart Association will host a luncheon next week to raise money for and awareness of the leading cause of death among women: heart disease.

The 2019 Bay Area Go Red for Women Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 22 at the South Shore Harbour Resort & Conference Center, 2500 South Shore Blvd., League City. Jane and Jim Sweeny of Minuteman Press – Bay Area & Galveston will chair the event, according to the release.

One in 3 women lives with some form of cardiovascular disease, about 80 percent of which is preventable. Go Red for Women’s goal is to lower that statistic, according to the release.

Honoree Meloney Bean will provide her inspiring story of survival, and the event will feature a silent auction, the Iconic Heart Ambassadors and the event's inaugural survivor gallery, the release reads.
