League City residents who had to limit their water use the last two days can now sprinkle their yards, wash their cars and again use water as normal, according to a League City press release.

Since Tuesday, all League City water users west of Hwy. 3 had to limit water use to accommodate 39-inch water main tie-ins along I-45 as part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s I-45 widening project. The city enacted water restrictions to ensure there was enough water for drinking and firefighting during the tie-in process, according to the release.

Those west of Hwy. 3 were restricted from:

  • Watering yards

  • Washing vehicles

  • Washing buildings, sidewalks, driveways or other hard surfaces

  • Flushing gutters

The work was finished earlier than expected, and the city’s main water line is now providing water to League City at full capacity. The city’s water system performed “exceptionally well” during the work because residents complied with the water restrictions, according to the release.
