The city of Conroe council approved a resolution during its March 12 meeting showing support for the creation of a new municipal utility district within its extraterritorial jurisdiction.

The district would support a planned 677-acre single-family residential development near the Grand Parkway, which remains in early preliminary stages, said Nancy Mikeska, assistant director of community development.

The resolution is intended to show support for the MUD as the district seeks creation by the Texas Legislature this session, Mikeska said.

"This is not approving the MUD district, this is simply approving their legislation to seek approval from our legislators in order to create the MUD district," Mikeska said.
