A hybrid, sneaker-themed coffee shop and speakeasy lounge is now open in Midtown Houston.

Sneak Coffee + Lounge is a coffee shop serving locally-roasted beans and fresh baked goods by day and an events venue and speakeasy by night, owner Pouya Alavi said.

The coffee shop is managed by Calvin Kennedy, and opened earlier in December. The lounge kicked off with a party on New Years Eve, Alavi said.

Alavi's family owns the Native Coffee shop on Dallas Street, which prepared him to open the shoe-themed shop in Midtown, he said.

Sneaks lounge has different themed events throughout the week, including old school hip-hop nights on Tuesdays, R&B soul nights on Wednesdays, Ladies and Lyrics karaoke on Thursdays and an open format top 40 playlist on Fridays and Saturdays, Alavi said.
