As of July 16, fewer than 100,000 CenterPoint and Entergy customers remain without power.

Current situation

As of 3:30 p.m. July 16, a little fewer than 90,400 CenterPoint customers remain without power eight days after Hurricane Beryl made landfall on the Texas coast, according to CenterPoint Energy’s website. The Category 1 hurricane, which reached Houston on July 8, left more than 2.2 million without power at its peak.

According to a July 15 news release, CenterPoint officials said they remain on track to restore power to 98% of all affected customers by July 17. The company expects to restore power to all customers who can receive power by July 19.

“We are grateful to our crews who have restored power to our customers at a stronger pace than we have been able to in any hurricane in our history, despite the difficult conditions," said Lynnae Wilson, senior vice president of CenterPoint, in a statement. “We continue to work around the clock to get our remaining customers back online.”
