Package 7 asphalt projects
- Project: A series of roads are getting asphalt overlays and base repairs in the northern part of the city. Those include North Illinois Avenue, Lakeside Drive, West Drive, Valmar Street, Oak Road, Mockingbird Street and Bluebonnet Street.
- Update: This project is expected to wrap up in early 2025, according to League City’s website.
- Timeline: October-early 2025
- Cost: $1.9 million
- Funding source: From the tax reinvestment fund that is part of the city’s capital improvement budget
- Project: This project will add left- and right-turn lanes throughout the intersection to help with traffic flow.
- Update: Construction is back on track following CenterPoint Energy relocating gas lines.
- Timeline: Officials expect the project to finish in early spring 2025 but utility relocations and permitting with the Texas Department of Transportation have delayed completion of the project
- Cost: $1.6 million
- Funding source: Galveston County’s 2018 bond election
- Project: This project includes designing and constructing three new traffic signals at Northern Kessler’s Crossing intersection, Victory Lakes Drive and Town Center Drive, as well as improvements at the FM 646 intersection. The goal is to make traffic flow safer.
- Update: Construction in progress
- Timeline: Expected to be completed in spring 2025
- Cost: $3.3 million
- Funding source: Mostly from tax increment reinvestment zone, or TIRZ, funding, with $130,000 coming from the city’s capital improvement budget
Hwy. 3 and FM 518 intersection improvements
- Project: New and extended left- and right-turn lanes to improve traffic in the area
- Update: Originally expected to begin in late 2024 or early 2025, city officials said they are waiting for approvals from TxDOT, with funding expected to be available in fiscal year 2025-26.
- Timeline: Officials expect to bid for this project in mid-2025, which is contingent upon approval from TxDOT. The project will likely be completed in 2026-2027.
- Cost: $5.3 million, including $1.75 million for right of way acquisition and $3.5 million for construction
- Funding source: League City’s 2019 bond program
- Project: This project will include a redesign of the intersection with additional through lanes, as well as right lanes and an extended left-turn lane. There will also be adjustments to existing drainage at the intersection.
- Update: TxDOT’s permitting process is nearly complete with bidding expected to start in early 2025.
- Timeline: Construction will likely not begin until summer or fall 2025.
- Cost: $2.1 million
- Funding source: Galveston County’s 2018 bond
