League City is set to build two new fire stations following City Council approval of the projects on May 28, bringing the city’s total number of fire stations to eight.

What happened?

City Council approved building fire stations No. 7 and No. 8 east of Bay Area Boulevard on Muldoon Parkway and south of the future Grand Parkway on West Boulevard, respectively.

City Council did not discuss a project timeline or projected costs at the May 28 meeting.

Community Impact previously reported each fire station could cost between $10 million-$12 million to build.

Why it matters

The two new fire stations will expand the fire department’s reach into the city’s undeveloped areas, constituting 40% of the city.
