Houston Shakespeare Festival

The Miller Outdoor Theatre hosts the 50th annual Shakespeare Festival. Performers from the University of Houston Theatre & Dance and Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts will alternate performances of the iconic plays “Romeo & Juliet” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” A pre-show panel will be held before every show.Cirque Du Soleil - Songblazers

This country music fest at Smart Financial Centre takes place over 10 days and will highlight 16 performances. The theatrical performance pays homage to the influence of country music artists with acrobatics and live music.'Bright Star'

White Linen Night in Garden Oaks

Officials with the Stomping Grounds and Jim Beam partner to host a Garden Oaks version of the popular Heights-area event. The event features a Pop Shop America Market, whiskey sampling and live music from Bayou City Funk. Guests are encouraged to dress in the finest white linen outfits.Back-to-School Birth Certificate Event

The Harris County Clerk's Office is hosting this fourth-annual event, during which families can receive assistance in obtaining birth certificates needed for school registration. The first 100+ people in line will receive one birth certificate free of change, while additional birth certificates will be available for $23 each. To purchase a birth certificate copy, a person must have been born in the state of Texas; be the person named on the certificate, the legal representative, or an immediate family member with appropriate ID; provide a valid photo ID, such as a driver's license, federal or state ID card, military ID, U.S. passport, and/or supporting documents; and complete a birth certificate application.
