With all Harris County voting centers reporting, challenger Sean Teare has finished the March 5 Democratic primary for Harris County district attorney with 74.99% of votes, according to unofficial voting results posted on the Harris County's elections website.

What happened

With 545 voting centers reporting, Teare finished the race with 125,234 votes. Kim Ogg finished with 25.01% of votes, or 41,777 ballots.

"[Harris County Democrats'] overwhelming support will ensure that we win in November and Sean can get to work fixing the district attorney's office and making Harris County a safer and more just place to live for all of us," reads a March 6 statement from Teare's team.

Challenger Sean Teare has won the March 5 Democratic primary for Harris County district attorney with 75.16% of votes, according to unofficial voting results posted on the Harris County's elections website.

With 507 of 545 voting centers reporting, Teare has garnered 123,148 ballots while Kim Ogg has garnered 24.84% of votes, or 40,708 ballots.

Teare will face Republican Dan Simons in the Nov. 5 general election. Simons ran unopposed in the Republican primary, garnering 140,631 votes.

Challenger Sean Teare is leading the Democratic primary with 78.12% of votes, according to unofficial voting results posted on the Harris County's elections website.

With 46 of 545 voting precincts reporting, Teare has garnered 80,616 ballots while Kim Ogg has garnered 21.88% of votes, or 22,581 ballots.

Challenger Sean Teare is leading the March 5 Democratic primary race for Harris County district attorney with 78.38% of early voting ballots cast in his favor, according to unofficial early voting results.

Current situation

Teare is challenging incumbent Kim Ogg to represent Harris County residents as the Democratic candidate for district attorney. As of 7:19 p.m. on March 5, Teare has garnered 76,708 votes while Ogg has garnered 21,159 ballots, or 21.62%, according to Harris County’s elections website.

A closer look

Ogg was elected in 2016 and re-elected to a second term in 2020, according to her campaign website. Teare served as a prosecutor with the Harris County district attorney’s office for 11 years, according to his campaign website.
