With no contested races for Clear Lake Shores City Council, the city was able to cancel its May election, according to City Secretary Christy Stroup.

Mayor Kurt Otten has applied to run for re-election with no opponents.

Additionally, two City Council seats are open—those of council members Christy Lyons and Jan Bailey. Neither are running for re-election, leaving their seats up for grabs.

Monica Newell-Ledet and Steve Wirtes have both applied for the two open council seats. With no opponents, they both automatically will fill the seats.

Wirtes ran against five opponents for three contested City Council seats in November and lost.
