The district initially opened its voting period in early November for three calendar options, giving parents and staff members until Nov. 30 to weigh in. However, a notice on the CCISD website on Nov. 15 alerted visitors that the district had restarted the survey, and the public now has until Dec. 16 to vote on a new total of four different calendar options.
Ultimately, the CCISD board of trustees will make the final determination on adoption of the school calendar at a future board meeting.
In each calendar option, the school year is set to begin on the third week of August instead of the second week to save $6.8 million on the current budget year, according to the CCISD website.
The community survey and calendar drafts are available at www.ccisd.net/calendar/community-vote and the staff survey is available at www.ccisd.net/calendar/staffvote.
