The new date is Aug. 29, just ahead of Labor Day weekend, officials confirmed at a hard-hat tour of the site on April 30.

Construction is ongoing at the new resort, which will be the second one opened in Texas, and the first fourth-generation lodge the company has built, said Alana Ostrowski, director of operations, development and integration for the company.
Last year, officials announced intentions to open the resort in November. However, officials with the company in March announced the resort would open Oct. 18—a date that was then pushed up to Sept. 13 only a few weeks later.
The newest date will push the opening up by more than two weeks.
Diving in deeper
Officials with Great Wolf Lodge as well as multiple officials from the city of Webster and contractor Turner Construction Company, met at the new building located at 1000 Great Wolf Way, Webster, on April 30 to give updates on the resort and participate in a hard-hat tour of the building.
The tour included a look at some of the 532 rooms at the resort; the lobby area; the indoor water park; the new Adventure Park, which will feature 61,000 square feet of entertainment options for visitors; and the outdoor pool.
Much of the facility is still under construction, as hundreds of workers over the course of the project have logged more than one million hours of work, officials said at the tour. Once built out, it will create 600 jobs, Vice President of Development Steven Jacobsen said at the event.
The facility will have more than a dozen water slides, including the Texas Twirler, which is the first of its kind for the company, Community Impact previously reported. Retail and restaurants are also going to be on-site.
Officials throughout the building of the project have touted the location, which, in addition to being located in the Greater Houston area, is within four hours away from several population centers, including San Antonio, Austin, Beaumont and Baton Rouge.
What they’re saying
Several officials involved with the project spoke ahead of the tour on April 30. Many of the speeches were acknowledgements of those who helped bring the project to this point. CEO John Murphy said during his remarks the goal was to bring families together.
“We like to allow folks to find opportunities to spend time together, as we know it’s really challenging in this day and age,” Murphy said. “We provide a high-quality experience that is close, convenient and carefree.”
Jacobsen also noted the effect the resort will have on both the immediate area and the Greater Houston area.
“We know that it will cause visitors to go out and spend money into the community,” Jacobsen said. “A rising tide lifts all ships.”
