Centennial Medical Center getting new name following joint venture Baylor Scott & White Health finalized its joint venture with Tenet Healthcare Corporation. The rebranding comes after Baylor Scott & White Health finalized its joint venture with Tenet Healthcare Corporation in January to own five North Texas hospitals, including Centennial Medical Center. “We’re very excited, and we think it’s going to be a very symbiotic relationship that is going to translate into a transformational change to the care we deliver to our communities,” said Brett Lee, Tenet Healthcare’s CEO for the Dallas region. Baylor Scott & White is the largest nonprofit health system in Texas, with 49 hospitals, more than 35,000 employees and more than 500 patient-care sites. Tenet Healthcare, with 130,000 employees, is a for-profit, national health care company that operates 84 hospitals and 470 outpatient centers in the United States. Lee said the partnership came together as a way to provide greater coverage to communities. Hospitals are now being held accountable for how they manage the health of a population in their respective communities, he said. “To do that effectively, you have to make sure you have a very broad geographic coverage as well as a breadth and depth of services that can meet just about every need of the patients we serve,” Lee said. Lee said Tenet Healthcare operates medium-size community hospitals that do not have the depth of services of a bigger hospital. Partnering with Baylor, Scott & White, Tenet hospitals will now provide a wide-range of services. Lee also said Tenet Healthcare operates hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area where Baylor Scott & White does not have a strong presence, so the partnership expands the organization’s health care coverage. “This represents a tremendous opportunity for Baylor Scott & White facilities in the Frisco community to work closely together and build some strong programs,” Lee said. Lee said the leadership of the hospital, employees and operations will remain in place. A jointly appointed board of managers will govern the hospital partnership; the hospital will have a governing board, an independent medical staff and an independent leadership staff. “Centennial Medical Center will provide an additional recommended service and capacity for patient care in Frisco, so it’s an exciting time for Baylor Scott & White and Frisco,” Lee said. Baylor Medical Center at Frisco, also owned by Baylor Scott & White, has been in Frisco since 2002. Baylor Scott & White is teaming up with the Dallas Cowboys to build a 200,000-square-foot sports medicine facility at The Star, the Cowboys’ new headquarters in Frisco.
