Texas Health Frisco’s breast milk collection depot is celebrating its first anniversary.
One year since opening, the hospital’s breast milk collection depot, the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas, has collected more than 50,000 ounces of donor milk.
Zooming out
Texas Health Frisco opened the city’s first breastmilk collection depot in partnership with the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas in August 2025.
The nonprofit milk bank screens, pasteurizes and distributes breast milk donations since opening in 2004. New community services, including free breastfeeding support and monthly enrichment classes, were introduced as donor milk distribution grew from 4,000 ounces in 2004 to 818,580 ounces in 2024.
By early 2025, more than nine million ounces of pasteurized donor milk had been provided to fragile infants and their families. For NICU babies born early, a single ounce of milk can provide up to three feedings.
“As the only collection depot in the city, we are proud to serve as a trusted connection between generous donors and babies whose health depends on donor milk,” Texas Health Frisco President Tiffany Northern said. “We hope this milestone inspires even more eligible mothers to consider donating and helping us extend the reach of this lifesaving resource to babies.”
What else
The Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas has also established physical donation locations at Diana Health’s Allen Office, Plano’s Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Medical City Lewisville and Keller’s Concept Pelvic Health.
