Jaselle Luna

San Antonio Metro Publisher

Jaselle Luna has always liked the idea of connecting with the community and took that passion to the next level when she launched Community Impact Newspaper’s San Antonio Metro.

A long-time admirer of Community Impact Newspaper, Jaselle appreciates and shares the mission, values, and purpose that the company is built upon. She is a firm believer that local communities need local news and that everyone should have access to unbiased, quality journalism.

Prior to joining Community Impact, Jaselle ran a group of community newspapers in the San Antonio area and oversaw all aspects of the company’s operations and departments. Recognized with several awards over her tenure, her most notable and proud accomplishment was being nominated and chosen as an Elevate Scholar by The International News Media Association (INMA) & Google News Initiative (GNI) in 2020. While part of the program, Jaselle collaborated with industry leaders, across 18 different countries, to better understand journalism in the digital age and drive innovation across the news industry. Her efforts helped propel thoughtful solutions on how to include communities that have historically been underserved.

Jaselle was born and raised in San Antonio and attended college at The University of Texas at San Antonio ( birds up!). In her spare time, Jaselle enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to her high school sweetheart and together they share 3 children who keep the family super busy and involved. She also has a passion for volunteering and loves to be outdoors.

The best advice she would give a young professional …

Do more than what you get paid to do—people will notice. Work with excellence and grace and do each task—no matter what it is—a little better. Go the extra mile for an advertiser; secure an additional source for a story; find a solution before you are presented with a problem; and most of all, if you don’t know it, learn it.

Jaselle is motivated by…

Helping others. Offering a listening ear, an encouraging word, or your time.
