Tess Coverman

Vice President of Sales Operations

Tess Coverman has been with Community Impact Newspaper since 2011, firmly believing in the company’s mission and culture. Tess joined the organization after being a longtime reader and fan. She began as an Account Executive in Central Austin, and after a year she was promoted to Senior Account Executive in Southwest Austin. In 2017 she became the company’s first Sales Director with a focus on training and processes, and in 2021 she added Marketing and oversight of the company’s Patron Program to her role.

Tess was born and raised in Austin, Texas, later moving to New York City to attend New York University, where she earned a bachelor of fine arts in cinema studies and a minor in sociology. She then rounded out her education with a master in business administration from Purdue University in a unique international program taking place in Germany. Tess is married, and she and her wife Alise have two dogs.

The best advice she’s ever been given …

There’s never a shortage of advice to take into consideration. Here are my favorites from over the years: Do what you love, find the silver lining, and be bold to take calculated risks.

What she loves the most about her job …

When I started here I had no sales experience, nor time as a manager. I’m grateful for the mentorship I’ve received from peers and executives and take pride in passing that spirit and expertise along to the next generation of Impacters.

In her spare time Tess enjoys…

Traveling, gardening, foodie adventures, volunteering with her synagogue, reading and exercising.
