Drivers in Richardson can expect detours and lane closures on President George Bush Turnpike and Synergy Park Boulevard as road projects related to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Silver Line are underway.

What’s happening

From Nov. 3-6, the eastbound and westbound ramps from President George Bush Turnpike to southbound US 75 will be closed from 9 p.m.-4 a.m. The ramps will also be closed from 10 p.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 6 and 7.

Crews are installing signs and performing finishing work for the Silver Line, which launched on Oct. 25.

Drivers needing to use the exit should instead take the northbound US 75 exit ramp and keep right to take the 15th Street exit before making a U-turn to enter southbound US 75, according to a news release from the city.

Lane closures are also expected on Synergy Park Boulevard as crews start utility work related to the Silver Line.

The left lanes of Synergy Park between Point North Parkway and Floyd Road will be closed from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Nov. 4. Starting Nov. 5, the right lane of southbound Synergy Park Boulevard between Renner Road and the railroad bridge may be closed to traffic at all times as work takes place. That project is expected to wrap up in January, according to the release.

What else?

Additional construction along Synergy Park is also underway as crews work on the Cotton Belt Trail. Initial work will include demolition, clearing and grubbing, tree protection, and selective tree removal to prepare for trail construction.

The Cotton Belt Trail is a 57-mile trail that will link several cities, including Grapevine, Richardson and Plano, according to the NCTCOG’s website. Part of the trail will run along the 26-mile Silver Line Rail.

According to the release, all tree removals are being conducted "in accordance with the city of Richardson’s Tree Preservation Ordinance, and the project will include mitigation measures such as replacement plantings to preserve and enhance the community’s tree canopy."
