The crossing at Main and Interurban streets will close to thru-traffic Dec. 5 so that crews can install a new waterline, according to information provided via the city’s Richardson Redevelopment Facebook page.

The closure will impact Central Trail, the post said. Pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted to the sidewalk at the US 75 traffic light so that they can safely use the crosswalk.

Construction of the water line is part of the Main Street redevelopment project. Roadway changes kicked off Oct. 1 and are expected to last through the end of next year, according to the city.

According to the city, lane reductions along Main in mid-December will drastically impact traffic, so motorists should seek alternate routes when possible.
