For the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays, several Richardson facilities will be closed, while residents’ regular trash and recycling collections will also be impacted.

Trash and bulky and brush item collection days Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1 will not be made up, unlike recycling pickup, which will be pushed back a day, based on a calendar of impacted facilities and services released by the city.

What you need to know

Recycling collection Dec. 25-26 will be pushed back two days, while pickup Dec. 28-29 and Jan. 1-2 will be pushed back one day. Residents with recycling, trash, and bulky and brush item collections not on affected days will receive regularly scheduled service.

The Richardson Tennis Center will be open from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 23 and from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 31, while it will be closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1. The Richardson Senior Center will be open from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 23 with full closures Dec. 24-26 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1.


The Richardson Animal Shelter will be open from noon-5 p.m. Dec. 23 and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 26, but will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. Both the Heights and Huffhines recreation centers will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 23 with closures Dec. 24-26 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1.

What else?

Several other facilities will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1, including:
  • Temporary City Hall
  • Municipal Court
  • Richardson IQHQ
  • Richardson Service Center
The Richardson Public Library will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 23 with closures Dec. 24-26 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1. The Richardson Gymnastics Center will be closed Dec. 23-26 and Dec. 31-Jan. 2.
