KFC’s “next-generation” Open House restaurant concept is now open in McKinney. With the 3,400-square-foot modernized restaurant, KFC officials are looking to bring “the Kentucky Fried Comeback to life in one place,” a company news release states.

Celina officials plan for future development as DNT expands
With a new section of the Dallas North Tollway set to open in late 2027, Celina officials are building a road map for future development. At a Sept. 15 joint meeting, members of the Celina City Council and the board of the Celina Economic Development Corporation met with Kyle Talente, principal of consulting firm RKG Associates, to discuss officials’ long-term vision for land surrounding the future DNT.

Frisco ISD approves elementary class-size state exemption
Frisco ISD is seeking a state waiver for elementary classes in pre-K through fourth grade that exceed the state-mandated ratio of 22 students per teacher. The board approved an agenda item seeking the exemption during its Sept. 21 meeting. According to the TEA, the exemption process is intended for situations in which the class-size requirement creates an “undue hardship” for a district.

TxDOT plans $38M construction on FM 1385 in Prosper
Relief could be on the horizon for Prosper residents traversing FM 1385. The Texas Department of Transportation has added $38.2 million for construction of FM 1385 to its 10-year plan for transportation projects, said Travis Campbell, director of transportation, planning and development for TxDOT’s Dallas district. FM 1385 will be six lanes at full buildout, and TxDOT will start by widening the roadway to four lanes with curbs and gutters, he said.
