New playground equipment installation began July 10, per the project registration with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The park’s play area is now located near Lot A and Bill Keffler Ballpark, according to a news release.
Funding for the new play equipment was included in Proposition E of the 2021 bond program, which allocated $3 million to address neighborhood parks. The renovations, which had an estimated cost of $886,939, covered the installation of a concrete walkway around the park, additional seating, a water fountain, new swing sets, a rope-pull and a We-Go-Round.
According to the news release, the playground equipment replacement is the fifth to be completed as part of the 2021 bond program.
