Richardson City Council unanimously approved $5 million for renovations at Sherrill Park Golf Course at its Aug. 17 meeting.
The funding will support installation of the golf course’s new training center and maintenance barn addition, which are expected to be completed by March 2027.
The overview
Richardson announced the construction of the new training center in February 2025, which is set to include two hitting bays to allow lessons to be conducted in all weather. The center will also house a specialized fitting facility in partnership with golf equipment company Titleist, its first fitting center in North Texas.
At the fitting center, a Titleist Fitting Professional will work one-on-one with golfers to optimize their golf clubs based on their own individual performance.
Council approved $700,000 in April for preconstruction work, bringing the project total to $5.7 million.
The details
The approved funds will support site improvements, including drainage, grading and paving, new fences and gates in the maintenance barn area and water and sewer utilities. It also covers building installation and interior finishing for the maintenance barn addition and new training center as well as renovations to the existing barn.
What’s next
Construction on this phase of the project is expected to start in September and finish by March 2027.
