The city of Richardson is implementing a limit on the residential use of outdoor irrigation systems, including sprinklers, during the summer, according to a press release.

City officials said in a statement that sprinkler use is limited to between 6 p.m.-10 a.m. The restriction became effective April 1 and will run through Oct. 31. The summer watering schedule is part of water conservation efforts by the city to help reduce the amount of water lost to evaporation.

Richardson residents are also limited on which days they are allowed to water based on address. Even-numbered addresses are allowed to water on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and odd-numbered addresses are allowed to water on Wednesdays and Sundays.
