Early voting begins May 16 and runs through May 20 for the May 24 primary runoff election. The winners in this election will advance to the Nov. 8 general election.

On the ballot are three statewide offices for Republicans and four statewide offices for Democrats. There are also a handful of local and county races.

Under state law, voters who cast a ballot in the March 1 primary must vote in that same party’s runoff election. Those who did not vote in the primary may vote in either the Republican Party or Democratic Party runoff, according to a news release from the Texas Secretary of State.

"The candidates you will be voting on have made it to the final round of their parties' primary elections, and this is your chance to decide who you want to compete for those public offices in November,” Texas Secretary of State John Scott said in a news release. “Make sure to do your research on the candidates, make an informed decision, and prepare to make your voice heard in the runoff elections by visiting www.votetexas.gov."
