The Richardson ISD board of trustees chose new board officers for the 2021-22 school year during its Aug. 9 meeting.

Board President Karen Clardy was re-elected to that position by a unanimous vote.

“I've found Mrs. Clardy to be amazingly insightful when it comes to the initiatives [Superintendent Jeannie] Stone and her administrative team undertake that helps our teachers and staff cope with the day-to-day responsibilities of educating our youngsters,” board member Eron Linn said in nominating her for the position.

Trustees Regina Harris and Debbie Rentería were unanimously chosen as the board’s vice president and secretary, respectively.

The role of board delegate to the Texas Association of School Boards went to trustee Eric Eager, while new board member Chris Poteet was chosen to serve as Eager’s alternate. Both votes were also unanimous.

Clardy said Poteet’s role will be to fill in should Eager not be able to attend a TASB meeting or perform other delegate responsibilities.

Board officers will retain their positions through the board's final scheduled board meeting of the 2021-22 school year on June 13.
