Starting in the fall, graduate students at The University of Texas at Dallas can pursue a master’s degree in cybersecurity.

Implementation of the program was motivated by the rising threat of cyber attacks, according to the university. The Heritage Foundation estimates that cyber breaches are projected to cost the global economy $2.1 trillion by 2019, which is more than quadruple the cost since 2015.

Students enrolled in the graduate degree program will learn the strategic, analytic and policy aspects of cybersecurity, according to the university.

The program will include courses in informational systems, computer science and cognitive psychology as well as public policy courses regarding privacy, ethics, data security and cybersecurity regulations.
