Richardson ISD to offer Aug. 1 training for potential board of trustees candidates

Candidates interested in running for the Richardson ISD board of trustees are invited to participate in a training session Aug. 1.

The event will be led by trustees Jean Bono, Kim Caston and Kristin Kuhne. Training will focus on what to expect from board service in terms of duties, responsibilities and time commitments.

"This is a good opportunity to learn about the vision and strategic plan for RISD and what can be expected of those who are elected to serve," Bono said.

Board training is held annually during the campaign filing period. The application window opened July 22 and will close Aug. 19. So far, incumbents Eron Linn and Karen Clardy have filed to run in districts 2 and 5, respectively. Newcomers Patricia Ann Hicks, Taler Jefferson and Regina Harris have filed to run in District 4.

Those who have filed as well as those who are interested in running are welcome to attend the training, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the district's administration building, 420 S. Greenville Ave., Richardson.
