Richardson officials have mobilized a volunteer coordination center to connect community members with tornado victims in need. The center, located at the Huffhines Recreation Center, 200 N. Plano Road, Richardson, will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until further notice. People wishing to volunteer or request help can call 972-744-0900. “We have had a tremendous outpouring of people wanting to help the people impacted by this tragedy,” Richardson Mayor Paul Voelker said in a statement. “We do have a lot of needs for the victims of this disaster, so we are mobilizing a Volunteer Reception Center to make those connections and leverage all of the resources available to help get our community back to normal as quickly as possible.” Volunteers can expect to help with vegetation clearing, blue tarp installation and removal of demolition debris, according to a release from the city.
